Talking How this could have been avoided (and can be in the future)

The reason the exploit was so 'terrible' was because it has been said that it would ruin the Guild Wars economy (PvE side, I imagine). However, if the PvE side was based on skill and not on time spent gaining money/items (unlike other online games), then the economy would not be affected at all. If the items were not the goal of so many players, and item swere cheap, then everyone could concentrate on skills (both in-game and out) instead of getting items. If those high-end items are not needed in order to play the game (which I don't believe they are), then who cares if everyone gets them. As with farm nerfs, the ones using the exploit (whether they realized it or not) are the ones that are least affected by the rollback. They have lost absolutely nothing. They get their money back.

I was offline so I lose nothing (not even time). The ones that lose out are the ones that are playing the game the way it should be (according to other posters). When farm areas are nerfed, the farmers do not lose out (they already have made a fortune off those areas and move on, such as the first UW solo farmers). It only hurts those guys and gals that played through the game, and then decide to farm to pass time. They see these ways that the early farmers earned their fissure armour (if you call it earned) and try it themselves. Shame on them for playing the game first and being late.

What about those that use exploits? Well lets look back at the double mod exploit. The ones that exploited it lost nothing, they kept their cash. The ones that lost out were the ones with a large armount of cash to spend on the axes. The exploiters are still rich. The lost stronboxes? Well, the people that found out about them early are rich. Everyone that played the game and then found out about them? Well, they are gone.

Who really loses out? Well, that guy that got the perfect 15^50 fellblade lost out. The guy that finally finished Thunderhead Keep lost out. The guy that finally capped that skill in Snake Dance lost out. Again, the guys that played the game lost out. The guys that used the exploit (again, knowingly or otherwise)? They lost nothing. In fact the rollback is causing great effort on behalf of the developers to make sure they get back what they lost. The people who got the 'unbalanced' HoD swords/axes & 20/20 rockmoulders - they didn't knowingly exploit the game. Again, they lost nothing.

If you want a stable economy where things like this can't screw it up, then the game should be operated according to its founding claims. It's not about the items or the grind (which if an economy can be shattered like this, then it is obviously about the money and items), and make it about the skills. I don't care either way, but I see people crying about it on either side. Either leave the economy alone and quit 'fixing' shit, allowing it to be a free market, or else cap everything sold at the traders so the prices are relatively low, thereby not allowing the possibility for a 'ruined' economy. What we've got now only encourages exploiters and extreme farmers. There is, after all absolutely nothing to lose by doing it. If there were mass bannings then that would be a different story (banning the axe exploiters, etc). Anyways, I hope this gets fixed one way or the other prior to Factions.

I will be going out killing shit in my nice shiny Collector's Armour with my 3 Collector's Shields (+45stance,+60hex,+5runic), and collector's weapons. Have a nice day...

"I think it is ridiculous that someone has to pay 60k for a Superior Runes. Wasn't this game designed to avoid 'grinding'?"

Why are so many people concerned with parity in this game? Parity helps create passion, both positive and negative.

if its so hard why dont leave it as it is...

i mean - some ppl got uber-cheap sup vigors and such but more ppl made fortunes during previous market crash and it was ok... now we cant play for the whole day and as i understand it ppl will have to repeate all missions/quests they did and if they were farming/selling stuff they have to do it again - providing they'll have their inv back in the right order...

If you take away the reason to grind and get the good loot, then you take away the reason to PvE after beating the game. You lose out on customers.

Let's face it, the PvE to PvP ratio is like 100 to 1...

If you think ANet is going to sit idle when there is a major problem in PvE you're out of your mind.

Awwww.... damn.... just woke up really early... (its 5:10 am here) and i have to wait another 2 hours? .... Guess ill go play ET!

And btw... I LOVE PVE.... and im beginning to get into PVP.... the advantage of PVE is... that we can run around and be useful to other players who are starting out whereas a PVP can really only stay in the arena and whoop them.

PVE is alll about the environment and the people. (imo)
PVP is all about making the people you helped suffer as you thrash their sissy asses into the ground (imo) lol

We got an explanation, server error, unintentional trader reset. That's good enough for me.

Now if I was paying them 15 bucks a month after spending 50bucks on the original purchase and something like this happened, yeah, I'd be upset. Heck, if I was paying 15 bucks a month, I'd be upset at ANY trouble I had logging on. Perhaps that's why I don't pay for the WoW experience. You wanna look at server problems? take a look at them.

well, this is bull. it's now 11pm cst and i can't logon. Nerfnet is continiously nerfing farming spots, "balancing" skills & introducing lots of new bugs while they do so. they do everything they can to piss of ppl who don't have anything to do other then farm (like me, i've beaten the game several times...what else but farming is there to do?). I for one will respond to this with not buying factions and i suggest the same to everybody who has enough with nerfnets actions. gg anet!
